About Jockey Skulls
Jockey skull caps are specialised helmets designed for riders, particularly those engaging in disciplines such as racing, eventing, and hacking. These helmets are crafted to ensure you are protected whilst riding. Jockey skull caps have a streamlined, peak less design offering enhanced protection and a secure fit. By having no peak, the helmet can slide in the event of a fall, reducing the risk of head and neck injuries.
They are constructed from advanced, lightweight components to absorb impact and reduce the risk of head injuries.
A jockey skull hat is certified to meet stringent safety standards, therefore you can perform with confidence in various equestrian disciplines.
Features of a Jockey Skull Cap
Our selection of jockey skull helmets are packed with features to ensure maximum protection, comfort and performance.
Each jockey helmet has a high-impact, lightweight shell constructed from durable materials like fibreglass or carbon fibre designed to absorb and disperse impact in event of a fall when riding.
Ventilation is provided via integrated air vents to enhance airflow, keeping riders cool whilst riding, especially useful in the UK summer.
Adjustable padded harnesses ensure your hat is snug and secure, enhanced by rear lacing which can be modified to suit the shape of the riders head.
Some of our skull caps have removeable hat liners. Removable liners can be taken out and washed, helping to keep your helmet clean and free from sweat and dirt. Additionally, they can be replaced, extending the life of your helmet. The Charles Owen Pro II Plus is the ideal choice, available in colours black, navy, rose gold or silver with prices starting from £172.
Safety is imperative, and at Ayr Equestrian we are committed to ensuring all of our skull caps meet and exceed UK safety regulations.
Jockey Skulls FAQs
Are Jockey skull caps suitable for children to wear?
A jockey helmet is an excellent choice for young equestrians to ride in due to their lightweight design and enhanced safety features. All of our skull hats from Charles Owen, Champion and Karben are certified and meet the safety standards set by the Pony Club.
Kids love to style their riding helmet with hat silks in a range of colours and styles to match both their outfit and that of their horse.
*specifically designed hats for children are VAT exempt.
What is MIPS?
MIPS (Multi-directional Impact Protection System) technology is an advanced safety feature designed to reduce rotational forces on the brain in the event of a riding accident. A MIPS certified helmet has a low-friction layer between the outer shell and inner lining which allows the helmet to move slightly. This movement helps redirect the rotational forces away from the brain reducing the risk of injury.
Check out our range of Champion Jockey hats for further information, the Champion Revolve Junior X Air with MIPS is available in Black, Cobalt and Rose Gold and is competitively priced at £149.99.
