Charles Owen Pro II Plus

Charles Owen Pro II Plus

The Pro II plus from Charles Owen is a favourite jockey skull, here at Ayr Equestrian. The Pro II Plus is the next generation of the Charles Owen Pro II taking all the features people loved about the Charles Owen Pro II, the triple certification, faux leather harness, lightweight, great fit, and they have improved it by adding a full drop out the removable liner.

As already mentioned, we love the Pro II as a brilliant every day all round helmet, the versatility of the Pro II is impressive, you can do whatever you would like in it, whether it be eventing, hacking, schooling or other competition. The Charles Owen Pro II is a relatively shallow skull, which not only makes it lightweight and easy to wear, it also makes it a very neat for a skull cap which traditionally tends to be a rather deep fitting style of Riding Helmet.

The Charles Owen Pro II Plus features three independently certified safety standards, VG1, ASTM, and PAS 015. The more standards that a riding hat has means it goes through tests for more impact scenarios. Charles Owen goes above and beyond the requirements with three certifications, meaning this item offers superior safety. meaning you can use the Pro II plus for any discipline, making this item perfect for any rider.

In terms of keeping your head cool, the Pro II Plus from Charles Owen has the same ten slot airflow arrangement as found on most of Charles Owen's Premium range ensuring the delivery of superior cooling. This system is proven; it is incredibly effective at regulating temperature whether you wear it, either on the ground or in the saddle. The system comprises of 6 forward ventilation slots and 4 rear ventilation slots the order in which these ventilation slots are arranged helps ensure constant airflow throughout the helmet, coupled with its aforementioned low profile design comfort is ensured.

The sized liner system the Pro II uses means the whole liner can be removed and washed on a cold wash, or even replaced once worn out. Charles Owen also infuses the sized liner with antimicrobial interwoven silver ions, meaning that your hat will smell fresh for longer. All these factors, combined with the shallow profile, means that the Pro II is an ideal choice for keeping your head cool throughout the day.

When it comes to colour, the Pro II has plenty of choices, whether you are more traditional and prefer Navy or Black, or you want to go for something different like the 3 heat reflective colours of Silver, Gold or Rose Gold. The Pro II plus also features Charles Owens fantastic faux leather GRpx technology harness, with two suction cups in the rear of the harness, secured by an adjustable lace it gives you a feeling of both security and comfort ensuring unsurpassed stability. This is further enhanced by the adjustable chin strap and clasp closure.

When it comes to fit the Pro II is based upon one of Charles Owens most popular templates, designed to fit the majority of heads. In core sizes of 56cm - 59cm the Pro II plus features both a standard (more oval) and round fit options, ensuring you can achieve the fit that is right for you. As a style, the Pro II plus fits almost identical to Charles Owens Ayrbrush Pinstripe, elumen8, and is broadly similar to the Ayr 8 plus and elumenayr.

The Shell breaks on a Pro II plus follows Charles Owens most common practice of having separate shells for 53cm, 54-55cm, 56-59cm, 56R - 59R cm, 60-61cm and 62-65cm. Within these sizes the removable cup headband design allows you to change the size of your hat by replacing your liner with the appropriate size, for example, you can change a 56cm into a 57cm, however, cannot change a 55cm into a 56cm.

As always if there are any questions you have regarding the Pro II plus, any Charles Owen riding hat, or any item you wish to order or need help with please do not hesitate to get in contact with us.

FAQs

  • How should my riding hat fit?

Your hat should fit snuggly and most importantly feel even; it should not pinch, however, should feel firm when you first put it on. When trying your hat on for the first time, make sure your hair is how you would typically wear it when riding, this can make a massive impact on how your hat fits. We always like to compare the feeling of a new hat to a "firm handshake but on your head."
However, this is only part of the picture as it is essential to check your hat has locked onto the back of your head. The helmet should ideally sit about a fingers width above your eyebrows and come down just over the lump on the back of your head, also known as your cranial base.
To check this, you should be able to apply firm pressure to the peak, in all directions, and the hat should not move independently. As a rule of thumb, the helmet should move your eyebrows with it.

  • When I tip my head upside down my riding hat comes off, does thatmean it doesn’t fit?

No, it doesn't necessarily mean that your hat no longer fits, as this test does not take into account your hair or other factors, however, if you are unsure of whether your hat fits or now we would always recommend going to your nearest hat fitting centre to get it checked.

  • Can I return my Hat?

Yes, we accept hats as returns as long as they meet our returns policy.

  • Do I need to replace my riding hat once I have had an accident?

Yes, once a helmet has been involved in an accident the safety has been compromised.

  • How Do I know if Im a Standard (Oval) Fit or a Round Fit?

The vast majority of people have oval-shaped heads, however, a few people now have more round shapes and therefore Charles Owen has developed a round fit that is offered in several styles within their range.

The Round fit is only available in most of the range from a 56- 59cm, this is because sizes outwith this range tend to be rounder as standard. To find out if your a round fit, the easiest way is to have someone look at your head from above if your head looks longer and narrow a standard oval fit will be best, if your head looks similar width to length then you will be better with a round fit.

Alternatively when trying on a hat if there is excess pressure at the sides then a round fit may be a better choice, however, if the pressure is greater front to back then you should choose an oval fit. It is important to remember that Charles Owen has a vast array of shapes and sizes throughout the range, if one style fits (or doesn't) then it doesn't mean that all the hats in the range will fit you the same (or won't).
  • How should I store my riding hat?

Riding Hats should be stored at ambient temperature out of direct sunlight. Do not subject your riding hat to temperatures above 50c or below -20c.

After riding, if your riding hat is damp, it should be left in a warm dry place overnight. Do not store in a plastic bag before it is dry.

  • When should I replace my riding hat?

The recommended life span of a riding hat is 3 - 5 years depending on frequency of use.  Please replace your helmet should it take on impact.

Shop Safe

When you shop with us, you can choose to check out using either PayPal or SagePay, both of which are established leaders in the field of secure transaction processing.

Braintree Payments

When you shop with us, our secure server encrypts all of your personal information, including name, address and credit card information. We use Braintree Payments which is an industry leader in secure internet transactions. Braintree Payments is used by thousands of other UK businesses for transaction security.

All transaction information passed between our website and the Braintree Payment System is encrypted using 128-bit SSL certificates. No cardholder information is ever passed unencrypted and all messages from SagePay are signed using MD5 hashing to prevent tampering. You can be completely secure in the knowledge that nothing passed to SagePay can be examined, used or modified by any third parties attempting to gain access to sensitive information.

Once on the Braintree system, all sensitive data is secured using the same internationally recognised 256-bit encryption standards used by, among others, the US Government. The encryption keys are held on state-of-the-art, tamper proof systems in the same family as those used to secure VeriSign's Global Root certificate, making them all but impossible to extract. The data they hold is extremely secure and they are regularly audited by the banks and banking authorities to ensure it remains so.

SagePay has multiple private links into the banking network that are completely separate from the Internet and which do not cross any publicly accessible networks. Any cardholder information sent to the banks and any authorisation message coming back is secure and cannot be tampered with.

No individuals within our company or Braintree are able to decrypt transaction information or cardholder data. Their systems only allow access to our most senior staff and only in extenuating circumstances (such as investigations of Card Fraud by the Police). Your card information is secure even from their own employees because the systems never display the full card numbers, even on administration screens.

PayPal

We use the industry leading internet payment company PayPal to protect your card details and protect from fraud. PayPal keep your information safe. We will never actually see your bank or credit card details, they are passed in a highly secure way directly to PayPal for processing. Industry-leading fraud prevention is just one of the reasons PayPal is a safe way to pay online. PayPal uses proprietary technology and constantly innovates to monitor transactions and maintain a secure payment system. To help you keep track of your account activity, PayPal sends an email confirmation of every account transaction. For more information visit PayPal here.
